The Coach program focuses on creating the best learning environment for sailors to develop their technical and tactical skills. It incorporates modern coaching practices to provide positive sailor experiences.

Accredited Coaches deliver Australian Sailing Participation Programs through a Club or Class Association.

Coach Pathway

Foundation Coach
Foundation Coaches can deliver the Green Fleet program and can assist a Sailing Coach to deliver Participation Programs. Foundation Coaches work with participants who have learnt the basics in Discover Sailing programs and want to develop skills to be independent and confident on the water.

Sailing Coach
Sailing Coaches can coach any boat, board or discipline and deliver any of the Participation Programs at Clubs and with Class Associations. Sailing Coaches can have a Foundation Coach working with them to support their coaching delivery.

FoilLab Coach
FoilLab Coaches can deliver the FoilLab program. The Sailing Coach accreditation is a requirement for becoming a FoilLab Coach.

Senior Coach
Senior Coaches deliver Sailing Coach training, provide feedback and assess candidates consistently and fairly. Senior Coaches are appointed by Australian Sailing. If you’re interested in becoming a Senior Coach, contact your local Club Support team.
