Measurer: Sails & Spars

Overview
A person accredited to carry out fundamental measurement and certification on spars and sails only. They are accredited to act as an equipment inspector at any event at Club, State or National level.

12 hours study time

Overview
A person accredited to carry out measurement and certification control and perform fundamental measurement and certification. They are accredited to act as an event measurer or equipment inspector at any event at Club, State or National level. An Official Class measurer will have met the stringent criteria for officiating in their stream. Competitors will expect a high level of expertise from these officials. This accreditation is a pre-requisite to progressing to International Measurer.

Measurer: IRC/ORC

Delivery: Face to face
Length: 2 day course
12 hours study time + field experience

Overview
A person accredited to supply audited measurements to the rating authority so IRC and ORC rating certificates can be issued. Ideally a person interested in this course should have a background in marine metrology and/or sail measurement. A period of on the job experience is required to complete this accreditation.

Accreditation & Re-accreditation

An official's accreditation starts when their application is approved by Australian Sailing, and lasts for four years.

Sails and Spars Measurer

Accreditation

- Be a current member of an Australian Sailing affiliated Club.
- Agree to the Officials Code of Conduct.
- Attend an Australian Sailing Measurer – Sails and Spars course and complete the Performance Assessment.
- Submit to Australian Sailing an Online Accreditation Application Form, including:
    A successful Sails and Spars Performance Assessment.
    An Event Log including having assisted as a Measurer or Event Inspector in at least two events in the past four years.
    A letter of endorsement from their affiliated club or class association.

Re-accreditation

- Be a current member of an Australian Sailing affiliated Club.
- Submit to Australian Sailing an Online Re-accreditation Application Form, including:
    A letter of endorsement from their affiliated club or class association.
    An Event Log, or Performance Assessment, or course attendance in the last four years.

 

 

Official Class Measurer

Accreditation

- Be a current member of an Australian Sailing affiliated Club.

Application Forms

Note that Accreditation is to be used by candidates that are not already accredited at the level (e.g. Sails and Spars Measurers accrediting for the Official Class Measurer accreditation). Re-accreditation instead is to be used by already accredited Measurers who want to extend the same level of accreditation they have (e.g. Sails and Spars Measurers re-accrediting for the Sails and Spars Measurer accreditation).
