Visit Port Lincoln for the Australian Yachting Championship

Published Fri 09 Sep 2022

Boat owners have the terrific opportunity to visit the waters of Port Lincoln South Australia to race in the 2023 Australian Yachting Championship.

The Teakle Classic Lincoln Regatta 2023 is held from Friday 17 February to Thursday 23 February and incorporates the Australian Yachting Championship. Known as the Lincoln Regatta, racing includes a 156 nautical mile romp across St Vincent Gulf, past the Yorke Peninsula and then across the Spencer Gulf to Port Lincoln. The regatta then has four days of racing on the stunning waters of Boston Bay including a medium distance race. Lincoln Week Regatta is South Australia’s largest sailing regatta for yachts, multihulls and trailable yachts.

The regatta is clearly known to South Australian sailors, and gets visiting yachts from NSW including Matt Allen’s Ichi Ban, Bob Steele’s Quest and Daryl Hodgkinson’s Victoire, and VIC such as Chris Dare’s Ambition, Alan Woodward’s Reverie, Rob Date’s Scarlet Runner and Mike and Mark Welsh’s Wicked. Other interstate boats should not under appreciate the hospitality of the region not the quality of the course areas or how well the Teakle Classic Lincoln Regatta is run.

Scored under IRC, the Australian Yachting Championship provides rated boats of all sizes the most competitive regatta environment to test themselves against others.
