Public comment is invited on three proposed amendments to the Special Regulations. The feedback received is important to Australian Sailing and will help it inform the decision on how to proceed. The proposed amendments are:
1. Lifeline Materials - go to https://www.sailing.org.au/surveys/1572/ to view and provide comments on the proposed changes to permit the use of High Modulus Polyethylene (HMPE) rope as lifeline material in all categories of boats, where lifelines are fitted.
2. Watermakers - go to https://www.sailing.org.au/surveys/1617/ to view and provide comments on the proposal to allow watermakers to provide the water for crews in category 1 and 2 races.
3. Multihull Lifelines and Tethers - go to https://www.sailing.org.au/surveys/1509/ to view and provide comments on changing the requirement of multihull crew to be wearing a safety harness and be clipped on at all times in category 1, 2 and 3 races.
Australian Sailing recognises that the implementation date of any change to policy, rule or regulations is subject to clubs’ capacity to restart sailing operations and club house activities as COVID-19 restrictions lift. All proposals and implementation dates are subject to change or delay around this important consideration.
