Performance tips from Graham Sherring

Graham Sherring offers some quickfire tips for racing under CBH, ORC and IRC.
A fully qualified Sailmaker since beoming an apprentice at age 18, Graham has been a succesful sailor racing dinghies since a kid as well as yachts up and down the east coast of Australia. Graham has owned and successfully campaigned Leech 750 and Shaw 650 sports boats. He has achieved some of the highest accolades for his sailing successes over the years at both national and state levels, and continues to do so now. He has been the Australian and QLD Sports Boat Champion multiple times.
Known for being precise and thinking outside the box, his performance tips are remarkably simple and back to basics.
- Preparation is a must. Checking and maintaining your gear after and before regattas is a must. If you don’t finish, you cant win!
- The crew must firstly get along and respect each other's jobs. A happy crew is generally a successful crew.
- Set your boat/sail plan up when looking for the best rating number for the expected wind range. Setting up for 10-12knts works well in SE QLD.
- Knowing the weather and tidal flow is another major part of any preparation.
