Official of the Year winner
Published Wed 21 Oct 2020
Stephen Aulich IRO is congratulated for winning the 2020 Australian Sailing Awards Official of the Year for a second time.
We would like to thank Stephen for his ongoing commitment and dedication to our sport. Stephen gives generously of his time and services to the Sandringham Yacht Club as an involved member of the Off the Beach Classes. Steve first won the award in 2016. The video announcing this award can be viewed here .
Congratulations must also go to the other finalists Lisa Brock from the Brighton and Seacliff Yacht Club and Ed Vincent from the Darwin Sailing Club. Past winners include Richard Slater, Mike Rogers, Andy Curnow and Mark Taylor.
Without the tireless work of the officials who oversee racing and fairness on the water, our sport would not be what it is. Officials spend many hours honing their skills, have to sit through exams to get their qualifications and need to keep their skills current and up to date with study and time on the water.
