Event settings explained

Published Mon 09 Nov 2020

When setting up an event or course, once you check Attendees must register this enables a whole new group of settings for your event. Getting these event settings right can be a little confusing. This guide will focus on the 'Registration is open to' setting and help you navigate these registration options.

Settings summary

You can refer to the below table for a brief summary of each setting. Read on further for more detail.

Anyone Allows both members and non-members to register. Login available but not required
Public Anyone can register. No login option.
Members Only Only members of your club can register. Login required.
Members Only + Whole of Sport Anyone with an AS Number can register. Login required.

Settings in detail

Anyone – Allows anyone (member or non-member) to register.

Members will have the option to login, and therefore the event registration will link with their member profile. Non-members will supply their personal information at the point of registration. When an admin views non-members registrations, they will only be able to see the content they have provided at the point of registration i.e. first name, last name, additional fields etc.

Public only – Available to all non-members.

This event will not give members the option to login and hence this does not allow ‘members’ to register, and the event registration will not link with their member profile.

Member only – Requires member login to register for events. Non-members cannot proceed to registration without a username and password.

By default, all Australian Sailing accredited courses (ie: Tackers, Start Sailing etc) are set to Members Only and cannot be changed. To enable anyone with an Australian Sailing number to register for a course, be sure to check the 'Allow Whole-of-Sport registration'

Whole of Sport – Creating a whole of sport event, will allow anyone with an Australian Sailing number to login (using their AS Number + Surname + DOB) and register for the event. If a member from another club registers, they will appear in your event list where you can view their registration.

Allow 'whole of sport' registration is not available unless the event is set to Members only. Once you select Members Only, the option to “Allow Whole of Sport registration” will appear (see screenshot below).

Troubleshooting

How can a non-member register for a course if they don't have an Australian Sailing Number?

A non-member can get an Australian Sailing number via a Whole-of-Sport course by clicking on the troubleshooting link on the login screen (Having trouble registering with your AS Number, or don't yet have one? Click here)

A member's DOB is incorrect, how can we fix this

If the person holds a club membership, their club administrator can update their DOB in revSPORT. Alternately, they can complete the Australian Sailing Update My Details form which will be processed in 24-48 hours.

A member does not know their AS Number

Anyone can access and use the Australian Sailing Number Checker to find their AS Number - visit www.sailing.org.au/member-finder/
