Equipment Auditing Policies
Published Thu 17 Aug 2023
Equipment Auditors are reminded that there are policies in place which provide a framework on how to handle certain problems.
There are policies and advice published on Australian Sailing’s webpages for equipment auditing. The policies cover:
- Authority to Audit a Boat - The rules provide an Equipment Auditor authority to audit a boat.
- Completing Audits - Audit forms must be complete.
- Conflict of Interest - An Equipment Auditor shall not audit any part of a boat they have an interest in, except where permitted by Australian Sailing.
- Trivial Non-compliance - An Equipment Auditor may complete an audit on a boat where there is trivial non-compliance with the Special Regulations.
- Responsibility of the Person in Charge - Where judgement is required to audit the compliance of an item, an Equipment Auditor shall rely primarily on the opinion of the person in charge of the boat.
Equipment Auditors should refresh themselves on each of these as they provide a framework on how to go about the job. If an Equipment Auditor needs assistance, they should first contact one of the recognised Senior Equipment Auditors.
Information about Equipment Auditing is here.
