Auditing for the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race
Published Thu 17 Aug 2023
Equipment Auditors who are likely to be auditing boats entering the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race are invited to listen to the CYCA talk about safety and equipment requirements.
Any Category 1 race places a significant responsibility on the boat and its crew to be self-sufficient in the case of an emergency. The equipment required by the Special Regulations and race documents is critically important. It needs to be there for its intended purpose, properly maintained and stowed and that the crew know where it is kept and how it is to be used.
The Equipment Auditor plays an important role here. They conduct the audit by inspecting the boat and satisfying themselves the boat has been able to demonstrate compliance with the Special Regulations.
As the organising authority of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, the CYCA will help Equipment Auditors interested in auditing for the Category 1 event have a better understanding of what is required.
By registering for this online session, Equipment Auditors will hear directly from the CYCA on:
- Equipment auditing priorities, what the hot spots are.
- Common auditing problems seen in other years.
- Equipment requirements specific to the Hobart.
There will also be opportunity to ask Australian Sailing questions about auditing the Category 1 requirements of the Special Regulations.
