Association Cup incident – Lessons to be Learnt
Published Fri 15 May 2020
An article detailing the lessons learnt from an incident that occurred in the 2015 Association Cup has been posted to the Australian Sailing website.
Lifejackets were one of the main themes that come from the coroner’s findings from the incident on Port Phillip in April of 2018. As was the reliance of using handheld VHF to communicate in a strong breeze, and the use of a suitable rescue vessel when retrieving a crew person out of the water.
The list of lessons to be learnt can be found here https://www.sailingresources.org.au/safety/incident-reports/ on the Australian Sailing website.
