Anchor Comparison Data for Auditors

Published Mon 14 Dec 2020

In the quest to keep weight down for racing, some yachts have been known to use a range of lightweight high tensile aluminum anchors.

Fortress, Guardian, or Manson Racer anchors are high tensile danforth style of anchors that are used on racing yachts to help keep weight down. They also give the ability to stow in a more untraditional area due to being less cumbersome.

They have been designed to have the equivalent holding power of their more traditional and much heavier counterparts. This does however make the job of an auditor more difficult to determine if the yacht has on board the correct anchor for its size. Tables have been created to assist competitors and auditors determine which size is required.
