Aerials Phones and Tablets

Care is needed when auditing electronic items such as HF aerials and devices on board.
Phones and Tablets vs Handheld GPS and VHF radios are often carried on board. When checking items in your audit process it should be noted that these items must be waterproof. The use of Phones and Tablets as a substitute for GPS or verbal communications is not accepted.
Whilst not at prescribed item for auditing, there have been a number of occasions where the HF Radio Insulator deck mounting has been compromised by age and will affect the receiving and transmitting of messages. It is worthwhile pointing this out to the boat’s owner.
