Approvals & Permits
5. Approvals & Permits
Understanding what approvals and permits are required and where and how to get them can be confusing and daunting.
A planning property report can be obtained. This report will provide an outline of the zoning and overlays affecting the parcel of land. The proposal should initially be discussed with the local government planning department to understand required approvals, process and likely timeframes.
The proposal should also be discussed with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning or environmental planners (if the proposal is on public land).
Working through the required approvals and permits can be time consuming and difficult for club volunteers.
Engaging with relevant stakeholders early in the project planning and seeking specialist advice as needed, is essential in gaining approvals and permits efficiently.
Applications for approvals and permits should be made as the required information becomes available. For most approvals the detailed design will be required and will have to be reviewed and amended throughout the process.
Estimated Timeframe: 3 -12 months
