Australian Sailing’s Learning Centre (ASLC)  

The Australian Sailing Learning Centre is your go to education and training hub, providing clubs, associations, members, volunteers, administrators, instructors, and coaches and officials in the sailing community provides access to a comprehensive catalogue of free online courses developed by Australian Sailing, the Australian Sports Commission and Sport Integrity Australia. 

Starting in 2025, all current Australian Sailing members and participantsAnyone with an active Australian Sailing membership can easily access the Australian Sailing Learning Centre directly viathrough their Australian Sailing online profile. Simply login to your account here.

Community Coaching Essential Skills

The Community Coaching - Essential Skills Course is designed to assist new, returning or current coaches to create positive, safe and inclusive learning environments for participants to learn, enjoy and thrive through sport.

Sailing Instructor and Coach General Principles 

This course complements the Community Coaching Essential Skills course. Successful completion of both courses is a prerequisite for becoming an Australian Sailing qualified Instructor, or Coach.

This course assumes that you have acquired the foundational knowledge from the Community Coaching Essential Skills course and will enhance this foundation by providing sailing-specific information essential for Australian Sailing accredited Instructors and Coaches to deliver quality experiences to their participants.

Safeguarding Children and Young people in Sport Induction 

This course is designed to help you understand Safeguarding Children and Young People in your sport, including the Children and Young people Safe Practices, and how to recognise and respond to possible breaches.

Introduction to Safety and Risk Management  

This course is designed to equip individuals across all roles within the sport of sailing with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage safety and minimise risks. It will assist you in gaining a better understanding of the safety framework, risk management principles, and the implementation of safety measures, assisting you to fulfil your legal and ethical duty of care.  

PBTR – Harassment and Discrimination

The PBTR Harassment and Discrimination online course is an interactive course that provides an introduction to discrimination law and discusses the implications of discrimination and harassment on sports clubs and associations. It provides users with an understanding of discrimination and harassment and what to do if an incident occurs.

Power Boat Program Essential Skills

The aim of this course is to provide you with the tools and knowledge required before you attend the practical day of an Australian Sailing Powerboat Handling or Safety boat Operator course.  

This course will teach you the safety equipment and procedures, maritime regulation and navigation and boat handling techniques, as well as more advanced manoeuvres such as the rescue and righting of crafts, towing and the laying and recovering of regatta marks.

SUP Instructor Endorsement 

This course enables accredited Dinghy, Keelboat or Windsurfing Instructors to learn about Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) Boarding and then be able to  conduct SUP Experiences as part of the OutThere Sailing program.

Green Fleet Coaching Master Classes

This course will equip you with the knowledge needed to gain the Foundation Coach accreditation and will build on your experience as an accredited  instructor in Dinghy, Keelboat, Powerboat, or Windsurf programs.  

Upon successfully completing this course and holding an Australian Sailing Instructor qualification in any program (Dinghy, Keelboat, or Windsurf), you'll be accredited as a Foundation Coach. This qualification enables you to lead Green Fleet programs at your club and support Sailing Coaches with Intermediate and Advanced Fleet coaching.

Community Coach Masterclasses  

The Community Coaching Masterclasses will help grow the capability and competence of Australia’s coaches by taking a deeper dive into topics explored within the Community Coaching Essential Skills course. Each Masterclass guides coaches on how to apply the knowledge they gain in their own environment.

ASPD – Disability Inclusion for Coaches  

The Australian Sporting Alliance for People with a Disability  (ASAPD) course is designed to provide basic skills, understanding and knowledge in a practical real-life framework so you can be a more inclusive coach of people with a disability in sport and active recreation programs and activities.
